Best Florida Locally Sourced and Freshly Made Jams and Jellies

Best Florida Locally Sourced Freshly Made Jams and Jellies are hands down made by Meli Gusto. Melissa the founder and owner of Meli Gusto came to Florida from a small suburb of Paris, France.

She began working in a farmers market at the young age of 15 while also attending school for tourism. After school, her passion for travel and food brought her around the world where she discovered the eclectic flavor profiles that influence her unique jams.

During her travels to Asia, she learned how different types of food affect your body and health and how to eat with a purpose.

For this reason, Melissa’s creations are all natural, preservatives free, gluten free and she offers many vegan options.

When Melissa arrived in the US and began making her own jams and spreads for her friends, they couldn’t get enough!

She knew that she wanted to share her passion with a wider audience.

Because Melissa’s recipes are influenced by her travels, the flavors are wildly different than the standard jams you will find in your local grocery store. They are named for the cities that inspired them. They range from a sweet, tropical pineapple coconut to a spicy pear habanero to a savory jalapeños bell pepper.

All ingredients are locally sourced and freshly made. Flavors change with the season and availability so you can always expect something new. With the success of her jams, Melissa decided to branch out into others spreads and authentic Mexican salsa.

Her energy balls will give you an all natural boost without any added sugar. They are a smart and delicious snack for an active life style.

Every Sunday Meli Gusto has a booth at the Siesta Key Farmers Market located on the beautiful barrier island of Siesta Key, Florida. The market hours are 9am to 1pm at 5104 Ocean Blvd in the Village of Siesta Key, Florida.

The Best Homemade Salsa For Sale In Florida

The Best Homemade Salsa For Sale In Florida hands down is Chillihead Salsa. Period!

Soup to salsa! The story behind the sweet red crack . . .

Chilihead started in 1997. Tyson Wolters, after many libations, was snowed in a farm house in Eastern Washington. After many hours of boredom and inevitable hunger, he found a whole box of tomatoes, and decided to attempt to make tomato soup.

He found it needed pepper. He ended up using jalapeños because he couldn’t find any. The next morning his dad tried and said to him, “I don’t know what you were doing in here last night, but this is the best salsa I’ve ever eaten.”

The best part is that it was an accident, in our opinion.

Skip ahead to 1999, Tyson and his Wife moved to Key West and he was the night kitchen manager of the Hogs Breath Saloon. The Tyson burger is still on the menu. This is where the salsa began to develop a little more. The access to new spices from the Caribbean really made it begin to take form.

In 2006, in Sarasota, he was researching tomato soup recipes trying to figure out how the two correlated. He was introduced to prominent tomato growers in the central/SW Florida area. He realized they weren’t utilizing the waste from the tomatoes and proposed the idea of using it for making his Salsa for his tomato soup recipe.

Because of the influence of the diverse cultures of being in the tropics, he started developing the Salsa further, instead of the soup. He had access to large amounts of the produce he needed and was able to refine the product, and pick up larger accounts in town, such as O’LEARYS.

In 2013, Tyson and Julia met when their bands played together for a benefit in town, that his company was donating for. In 2016, Chilihead had become too busy for one man to handle, and after a few meetings (and a few beers) they decided to take the leap to the next step.

Where To Buy Affordable Batik Hand Painted Clothing And Art In Florida

Where To Buy Affordable Batik Hand Painted Clothing And Art In Florida. I named my business Batik Bliss because I’m following my bliss. My world is about color. How it vibrates with me and when I was a little girl I loved to draw and paint and make clothes for my dolls.

Fast forward to today. I discovered painting on fabric around 1988 and began painting on silk. First I began making silk scarves, which became more and more elaborate. Then started doing local art shows and sold to upscale boutiques. One day a returning customer said to me, you’ll never guess what I did with your scarf? She proceeded to tell me she had framed it as a piece of wall art.

That inspired me to do paintings on silk. I traveled all over the USA doing fine art shows, selling my framed paintings and eventually had lithographs printed and became very successful.

After about 25yrs I decided to reduce my travels being in my mid 60’s and just stick to Florida. My next adventure, on holiday in Bali Indonesia, I fell in love with hand painted batik fabric. Brought loads home with me and designed and made cloths from the Batik sarongs for my self. My friends loved the skirts and encouraged me to sell them. I went back to Bali and found a small family business to work with, they will paint the fabric in colors I choose and ship to the USA aboard a ship in containers.

So what is Baltik fabric?

A tradition of making batik is found in various countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Philippines and Nigeria; the Batik of Indonesia, however, may be the best-known.

Indonesian batik made in the island of Java has a long history of acculturation, with diverse patterns influenced by a variety of cultures, and is the most developed in terms of pattern, technique, and the quality of workmanship

Now I have found a home at the Siesta Key Farmers Market located in the Village at 5104 Ocean Blvd. and held every Sunday, from 9am to 1pm. My booth displays my lithographs, designer batik skirts, and scarves.

I love what I do and I’m grateful for my many blessings. You can also catch me occasionally at the St. Petersburg, Florida, Saturday mornings at the market. The dates for St. Pete can be found on my web site www.RitaVanGorder.com

Where To Buy The Best Lapidary Jewelry In Florida

Where To Buy The Best Lapidary Jewelry In Florida. There is an easy answer to this question hands down. Terri’s Treasures!

At Terri’s Treasures she offers unique and affordable gemstone jewelry; Terri saws, cut, and polish the gemstones herself, then she wraps sterling silver or 14ktgf wire around them, therefore, each piece is completely handcrafted, and truly a “one-of-a-kind”.

Each piece is “tagged” with its own identification number, because no two pieces are exactly alike. Pieces are subject to availability. With a wide price range and a large selection of materials, there is sure to be a treasure for everyone!

It all started in the third grade with a chapter on “rocks and minerals”, in science. The class took a field trip to to a local “rockhound’s” workshop. He explained the tumble polish method and showed us his vast collection of gems. On the way out we each got to choose a polished stone to keep; Terri still has hers.

That was it, Terri was hooked! On her next report card she got straight “A”s and was rewarded with her first (of many) real rock tumbler! Her Dad built a workshop in the basement; and stones have been her passion ever since.

Terri got older, and moved out of her parents home, so she packed up her workshop and stored most of it in the basement. Terri still displayed her collection, and stayed interested, but stopped actively tumbling.

Terri started a family, and had a job; life was good, but something was missing. Shortly after her second child was born, Terri really felt like she needed something for her. A conversation with a neighbor about her new agate slice wind chime brought it all back, and Terri realized what she was missing.

It is difficult to explain why we are drawn to certain things. Why these hobbies, or passions make us feel so happy inside. It could be the beauty of the gemstones, or the fact that they are a part of nature; something so incredible created in the earth, in the dirt! Nature is amazing. Terri states that “She is not sure why she feels like a child at Christmas, or a kid in a candy store every time she attends a gem show or rock shop.”

Terri can’t really explain to you why she has always felt such a strong connection to crystals and gemstones. But what she does know is that she is truly grateful to have something she is so passionate about, and so happy that she gets to share that passion with you!

Let’s take a look at some of her beautiful pieces of jewelry!

You can find Terri and her lapidary jewelry at the Siesta Key Farmers Market every Sunday from 9:00am to 1:00pm located in the Village of Siesta Key, Florida at 5104 Ocean Blvd or visit Terri’s Treasure website
